My personal goals as a Web Designer
These goals are being established to outline both my Integrity and Ethics as a Web Designer working under the name of “The Workshop” or any other name yet to be determined.
These are intended to be my guidelines during training as a student, as well as my career as a Web Designer.
-
It will be my mission to obtain the necessary knowledge and education to provide, clean, efficient coding that is accessible to all users whenever feasible and / or practical.
-
Design sites and / or pages that do not “FORCE” or “TRICK” the viewer in to signing up for, or participating in something that they were not initially looking for.
-
To avoid designing sites that intentionally lead viewers through multiple pages of unrelated information with the intention of “exposing” them to unnecessary advertisements before directing them to what they were looking for in the first place.
-
Design sites that utilize ALL, or most, of the available viewing space as opposed to sites that only use 50% or 75% of the screens width, leaving 25% - 50% of the screens viewable area to only provide a background color.
-
Whenever possible, avoid waste; wasted space, wasted paper (because my article only prints in a two inch wide column, thus, the rest of the paper is wasted), and so on.
-
Design sites that reduce CONFUSION on the viewer’s part… i.e. do not leave the viewer wondering; “What do I do now?” or “Do I click here or what”.
-
Do not participate in the design of Web Sites, Pages, or Coding that is intended to be malicious in any manner.
-
Try, whenever possible, to provide FREE information and links to others, especially those seeking to learn web design.
-
Remember the “Golden Rule” – Do unto others as you would have others do unto you”.
